Solidarity Message from Iraq Solidarity Campaign - Philippines 
 
Warm Greetings of Solidarity to comrades in Korea from the Iraq Solidarity
Campaign in the Philippines.

It has been two years since the invasion of Iraq. With more than half a
million deaths, mostly from the civilian side, at great cost to human lives,
resources and cultural heritage, the United States led occupation forces
presence in Iraq is a violation of the Iraqi people's will to live in peace.
This year's International Day of Action is a proof of the ever growing
rejection of the occupation not only by the Iraqi people themselves but by
the international community.

For us Filipinos, we continue to put political pressure on the United States
to withdraw its troops from Iraq and to expose the atrocities and injustice
done on the Iraqi people. We also demand from the Philippine Government to
withdraw its support for the occupation, and to maintain its position not to
send Filipino troops after our government brought the Filipino troops home
last year.

Now, more than ever before, is the time to put pressure on the different
governments worldwide that supports the occupation forces, to withdraw that
support and recall their troops home. We rejoice at the decision of the
Italian government to withdraw its troops and we look forward to the
withdrawal of Korean troops from Iraq as a fitting expression of the Korean
people's desire for peace and justice for the Iraqi people.

Let us remain steadfast in our faith in the power of the people.
International solidarity will break the chains of U.S. imperialism.  To
stand against the war in Iraq is to stand for peace, justice and a better
future for the world.

We shall overcome!
